The Ely Summer Times began with a 28-page booklet in 1996. To quote the first issue, “There’s no place like Ely, MN for creating summertime memories. Whether you’re here for the fishing and paddling, swimming and picnics, blueberries and northern lights, or shopping, dining, and special events, these are the days you’ll remember next winter, and for years to come. We hope our magazine will help you enjoy the area a little more.”
